DEWA opens main substation for Al Maktoum airport

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a new substation at Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central (DWC).

The main 132KV substation has been connected to DEWA’s power transmission grid in response to growing demand for electricity at the Middle Eastern aviation hub.

“This substation is equipped with the most up-to-date digital technology enhance its reliability and efficiency. It will definitely ensure uninterrupted and stable supplies to Al Maktoum International Airport,” said His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO of DEWA.

“The project aims to enhance the capacity of DEWA’s power transmission grids to Al Maktoum International Airport. In that regard, 132 KV ground cables were extended at the length of 12 kilometres to join the 11/132 KV main transformation substation Jebel Ali,” he added.
