Dubai’s newest airport inundated with volunteers

Dubai’s newest airport, Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central (DWC), have been inundated with responses to its advertisement calling for volunteers to test drive the airport.

Dubai Airport was seeking 1,000 public volunteers to assist in final trials at the airport located in DWC ahead of its opening to passenger traffic next month.

“We have had overwhelming support from volunteers and were oversubscribed within the first 48 hours. As a result we are now closed to further applications,” a Dubai Airports spokesperson said.

Dubai Airports advertisement appeared in yesterdays Gulf News calling on volunteers to register on their website however by 2pm the same day the details had been removed.

Registration was set to close on September 30 or “unless all spaces are filled earlier.”

The printed advertisement read: “to make sure everything is running perfectly, we are looking for volunteers to help our finals trials.” More info
