Emarat supplies fleet of major international cargo company with aviation fuel at Al Maktoum International Airport

Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat), entered an agreement with National Air Cargo to refuel its fleet of aircraft with aviation fuel. The operations will be carried out in the new Al Maktoum International Airport, located at Dubai World Central.

DXB DubaiThis agreement is the first to be executed by Emarat since the launch of its logistic operations in the field of air fuel supply sector at the airport.

Mr. Abdulrahman Qassim Al Ali, Commercial Sales Manager at Emarat, said that this agreement is a great feat for the Corporation, as several international companies competed for this contract to supply fuel to the aircraft of National Air Cargo, one of the largest air cargo companies in the world. He also pointed out that “Emojet”, a joint venture between Emarat and ExxonMobil, is managed by Emarat, and will be in charge of the refueling operations at Al Maktoum International Airport.

Mr. Al Ali further stated that this agreement is in line with Emarat’s aspirations to expand its services in accordance with the markets’ needs and demands. This achievement also highlights the vital role carried out by the Corporation in its commitment to enhance and support Dubai’s future plans and to become a principal player in the aviation fuel supply sector in Al Maktoum International Airport, to “Emojet”, has recently entered a concession agreement with Dubai Airports. In accordance with this agreement, Emarat has become one of the fuel suppliers at the new Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai World Central, in addition to Dubai International Airport.

Once completed, Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central is set to becomeone of the world’s largest airports, in size and capacity. The airport is spread over 140 square kilometers, and can receive 160 million passengers per annum, in addition to 12 million tonnes of cargo.

The first phase of the airport was opened for operations on the 27th of June 2010. The airport currently has only one runway that can receive Airbus A 380 aircraft, in addition to a terminal with the capacity of 5 million passengers annually, and a cargo terminal with an annual capacity of 250 thousand tonnes.
