Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates Appoints New F&B Manager

Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates welcomes Andreas J Magnus as its new F&B Manager. Magnus will be responsible for overseeing the hotel’s six F&B outlets – which include Sezzam, KGrill, Mosaic Chill, Aspen, 1897 Bar and Evory Lounge, the hotel’s catering and banqueting operations and the ongoing development of its restaurant concepts.

Kempinski Hotel MallThe Norwegian national moves to Dubai from the Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he served in a similar position, managing the successful completion of all day-to-day operations and personnel management for nine food and beverage outlets, including fine and casual dining venues, a café, bar and room service.

Magnus’s hospitality career began in the F&B department in 2002, as a trainee and Banquet Captain at the Lausanne Palace and Spa in Switzerland. He has since worked in his native Norway, the United States and Russia, in the front desk, banqueting and restaurant departments, before moving to Dubai to manage the F&B operations at Kempinski’s landmark Dubai hotel.

His restaurant, banqueting and conference experience as well as his confidence in managing a multi-cultural team make him the perfect person to take on this role,” said Alejandro Bernabé, General Manager, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.

Commenting on his appointment, Magnus added: “This is my first professional position in the Middle East region and I am excited to be here. From what I have seen of Dubai, it is a very dynamic and competitive hospitality market and I look forward to the huge learning opportunity this new position is bound to represent.”

Magnus holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a dual major in Hotel and Resort Management, from Northwood University, Hotel Institute of Montreux Campus in Switzerland as well as a Swiss Diploma in Hotel Management, from the Institute Hotelier “Cesar Ritz”, also in Switzerland. He speaks seven languages including fluent Norwegian and English, Swedish, French, German and basic Russian and Italian. When not busy with his management duties, Magnus enjoys reading, cooking, travelling, getting to know new cultures and spending time outdoors.
