New substation for Al Maktoum Airport

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a new 150 megavolt ampere main substation at Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali.

Operated by the Dubai Airports Company, the substation is connected to DEWA’s power transmission grid to secure the every-growing demand for electricity in the area.

H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said: “The project aims to enhance the capacity of DEWA’s power transmission grids to Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali. In that regard, 132kv ground cables were extended by 12km to join the 11/132kv main transformation substation at Jebel Ali. This will ensure uninterrupted and stable supplies to Al Maktoum International Airport.
