The new lounge spanning 1,058 square metre incorporates a contemporary design and matches up with the look of Emirates' First Class lounge in Concourse 2. It will serve departing First Class passengers passing through any of the 14 gates located in Concourse 1. The lounge is adorned with Italian marble flooring and European leather materials.
The airport project is just one of a number of projects throughout the GCC aimed at imporving international travel to the Middle East. Earlier this year, Dubai’s gigantic Al Maktoum International Airport began accepting cargo flights, while major developments are taking place in Oman, Qatar, Sharjah, Dubai’s existing international airport, Abu Dhabi, Iraq and Kuwait.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened Phase 4 of the Dubai Bypass Road linking up with Al Faya Road, Seih Shuaib, Abu Dhabi, better known as ‘Trucks Road’. This phase, which also serves Al Maktoum International Airport, comprises a sector of six lanes in each direction stretching 25km from the interchange of Dubai Bypass Road-Jebel Ali Lihbab Road up to Al Faya Road, Abu Dhabi.
